1. Changes in Behavior

When you come home after a tiring day of work or school, and your dog runs up to you wagging its tail, all your tiredness is guaranteed to go away. After all, whose heart wouldn't melt looking at that cute little furball?

However, if you notice this happening less frequently, chances are your dog is sick. You should try to find out what the problem is, and if their condition is severe, head to the vet as soon as possible.

2. Changes in Appetite

If your dog starts to drink or eat too much or even too little, it may indicate that they are sick. If your dog is hardly eating and it's been more than a day, you should consult a vet immediately. Sometimes their eating patterns can vary. However, when you notice it happening frequently or for more extended periods, an underlying illness may be the root of the problem.

On the other hand, if your dog is drinking a lot of water, it may point to a fever or kidney-related problem.

3. Problems with Urinating

It's very unusual for trained dogs to urinate inside the house. In case they do, it's cause for concern. A number of problems like frequent urination, bloody urine, or having trouble with urinating altogether may be a sign that your dog's kidneys are weak. 

If this is the case with your canine, you need to consult a vet right away. 

4. Howling when Coming in Contact

Those playful hugs will become a rarity with your dog if it's physically hurt somewhere. You will see that it will growl if you touch or even go near a spot where they feel pain. If it's an external injury, it's easy to judge its severity and act accordingly.
